Rig move of the “Giant” in September

Following Maersk Drilling’s sale of the jack-up rig Giant (formerly named Mærsk Giant) to the LOTOS Petrobaltic Group, JD-Contractor carried out the Rig move of the “Giant” in September, from Esbjerg to Gdańsk for the new owners.

The "GIANT", which will very soon be re-named to "PETRO GIANT", will be overhauled and upgraded in Gdańsk before working for the new owners as a rig for drilling solely in the Baltic Sea, for jobs involving the LOTOS Petrobaltic Group and other contracting parties.

Owners agent ShippingDK arranged some drone photos to be taken during the departure of "Giant" from Esbjerg. Although it was raining a bit and early in the morning they managed to get some very nice pictures of our vessel Assister commencing the Rig move. As “new owners” to Assister it has been a pleasure to see her carry out this task and along the way have re-visiting auditors, surveyors, clients and crew members that worked with her in the past on board, and even better to hear them state that she has never been in better shape than after her recent overhaul/upgrade.

Accompanying Assister on the Rig move was also our vessel Sima.
