Founder of JD-Contractor A/S and Sea War Museum Jutland, Gert Normann Andersen received an honorary membership of the Supporting Association Strandingsmuseum St. George.

On Monday, 9th of July 2018, a fault occurred on TDC cable connection between Rødvig and Rønne (Bornholm). The cable is a Fiber Optic Cable and initial TDR measurements positioned the fault to approx. 17 km from Rønne, in water depths of approx. 45 m.
As part of JDC's agreement with TDC, JDC was called in to do a cable repair spread with supporting tug, equipment and personnel for the exact fault location and subsequently to carry out the repair and re-burial of the cable with divers.

SIMA was mobilizing in Aarhus for her next project this past week with our Subjet workclass ROV and equipment being loaded with the newly installed Offshore crane.

Every so often JD-Contractor participates in various archaeological expeditions. Some of those expeditions have now been documented in the book Oceans of Archaeology edited by Anders Fischer and Lisbeth Pedersen.

In the book you will find passages with archaeological expeditions carried out from our vessels Marcos and Victor using JD-Contractor diving systems.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy A/S have built the Nissum Bredning Offshore Windfarm in Nissum Bredning, close to Thyborøn on behalf of the owners I/S Nissum Bredning Vind.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy A/S awarded JD-Contractor A/S with the contract for the cable installation and pull in of the three inter array cables and the export cable as well as associated activities for the Nissum Bredning Offshore Project.

The project was carried out in three rounds with the HDD installation in May/June 2017, HDPE & Cable Installation in December 2017 and January/February 2018.

In April 2018 JD-Contractor together with Sea War Museum Jutland made the sensational discovery of the German submarine U-3523 from WWII.
The submarine was discovered during the continued registration of shipwrecks in the North Sea and Skagerrak.

Sea War Museum Jutland onboard our multipurpose survey vessel M/S Vina continues the elaborate mapping of all the possible wreck sites across the sea and it was when investigating such a possible wrecksite that we came upon the U-3523.

We have successfully registered and mapped more than 450 wrecks at sea and counting.

In a consortium with NOV Flexibles (a supplier of high quality flexible pipe systems), JD-Contractor A/S just completed the installation of two flexible flowlines incl. PLEM-systems. The two flowline systems were installed leading from the Client`s factory on shore to an offshore loading station in the Bay of Dakar (Baie de Goree). Innovative engineering and good cooperation between NOV and JD-Contractor once again proved to be a successful combination.

During an installation project in Senegal JD-Contractor’s Tug Bauge was called out for an Emergency towing of a General Cargo Vessel in distress. A fire on board the vessel had left the General Cargo Vessel “Nofit” drifting and unable to sail under own power.

In the afternoon of the 23rd of December 2017 Energinet suffered a fault on the transmission cable to Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. This was the third time in 12 years that the transmission cable for Bornholm was damaged by an anchor during the Christmas period. Luckily the effects of this “Christmas Curse” was remedied in record time as a result of the Emergency Repair Framework agreement Energinet upholds with JD-contractor.
