Since investments in the Green Transition Offshore is predicted to increase significantly, JD-Contractor has invested in two “new” Offshore Installation Vessels. However, recognizing that the energy and resources going into the manufacturing of a vessel constitutes an extensive part of the vessel’s lifetime carbon/resource footprint, it was decided not to just order two new builds.

As a part of the company’s Sustainability Strategy, a decision was made to invest in two “new" vessels which had become redundant working in the oil and gas sector. The ships are currently being up-cycled to continue operations in both the Renewables, the Offshore and the Subsea Construction sector.

JD-Contractor has established a new base of operations for a wide range of the company’s assets in the Danish North Sea port Thyborøn.
The new facilities provide a strategic advantage for our many activities in the North Sea, especially in relation to the upcoming Offshore Windfarms planned in Danish sector. With the addition of Thyborøn as a new North Sea base of operations, JD-Contractor now has a great add-on to the existing base of operations in Kalundborg which provide a gateway to the Baltic Sea.

Being onboard AHTS Assister is an all-round job where no two days are similar. Moving oil or drilling rigs, handling anchors, and supporting operation in the energy sector is just some of the many tasks our crew performs on board the good vessel Assister. Performing ROV-support, subsea cable repairs, burial of subsea assets with ploughs as well as installation and service of floating windmills is other recurring work.

Westman Islands off the South Coast of Iceland is a breathtaking place which will stick with you for the rest of your life if you ever get the chance to visit. With the sweeping picture-perfect views and the feeling of remoteness, this is a place where life seems to have stood still.

Placed a few kilometers from the mainland the island and the area experience some of the harshest offshore conditions in the world, with nothing but open sea separating the coastline from the South Pole down on a different hemisphere!  

Nevertheless, our Good Vessel “Henry P. Lading” have managed to perform eighth different offshore operations in this fantastic corner of the world over a period spanning 55 years. The “most experienced cable and pipe installation barge” in the world have hence just returned to Denmark after completing the replacement of part of the subsea power cable supplying the islands with power from the mainland.
