The work: JD-Contractor A/S carried out a repair of one of the Kontiskan submarine cables between Jutland and Læsø in May and June 2006. First the diving ship M/S Honte free-jetted approx. 150 metres of the submarine cable on each side of the damaged portion. The free-jetted part of the cable was then lifted up from the seabed and placed next to the trench. When the jetting work was finished the cable-laying barge C/B Henry P. Lading arrived to repair the cable. After cutting the cable close to the damaged portion, the cable ends were taken onboard C/B Henry P. Lading. Here jointers performed the splicing of the cable.
The following vessels were used during the work:
M/S Honte:
1. Free-jetting the submarine cable.
2. Moving the submarine cable up next to the trench.
C/B Henry P. Lading:
1. Repair of the submarine cable.
Approx. 300 metres of submarine cable were free-jetted around the site of the damage.
Approx. 50 metres of new submarine cable were laid out into the seabed.
